Comparative study of water quality between upstream and downstream of Thamirabarani River using multivariate statistical tools

چکیده

The present investigations were focused on the systematic analysis of surface water quality Thamirabarani River from upstream (Pechiparai dam to Gnaramvilai) downstream (Vettuvenni Thengaipattinam estuary) during period September 2020 January 2021. different hydrochemical parameters such as temperature, pH, EC, TDS, fluoride, turbidity, nitrate, phosphate, sulphate, chloride, calcium, magnesium, total hardness, DO, BOD, bicarbonate, carbonate, sodium and potassium determined (S1-S5) (S6-S10) river samples. results showed that weighted Arithmetic Water Quality Index (WAWQI) values designated two sampling stations out ten ‘Good’ category another eight ‘poor - unsuitable’ category. obtained subjected multivariate statistical using Correlation matrix significant relationship among (significance level with 0.01 0.05) PCA Cluster was also calculated determine high pollution loads in sample. mean respective major ions are represented Schoeller- Berkaloff diagram. From this study severely polluted both region index techniques can be employed for monitoring resources which help inadequate planning management system. Key words: analysis, cluster parameters, principal component index.
